Help! I just bought a 1996 S 320---can anyone tell me how to determine if it's a long wheel base or short wheel base sedan? All i have is the owners manual and my registration paper.

Have got LWB without said optional accessories. Original/optional ccessories also depend on the market area.
Check the picture thread and you will soon learn to tell the difference.
Depending on the market, BOTH the short and long wheelbase on the W140 could be ordered with the rear electric bench seat (or the rear electric bucket seats), so that is NOT a way to determine it.
The easiest way without looking at numbers is to look at the curvature of the opening where the power window switch i set at the rear door. If the lower edge of this opening is very close the the edge of the door panel (one inch or less) it is a SWB. On the other hand, if there is a gap of about 4 or 5 inches between the bottom part of the curvature opening and the edge of the panel door, it is a LWB.
