Rest can be activated with the key on or off and will operate untill the coolant is below 122 degrees, 30 minutes, or the battery goes low. It is covered in the owners manual.

that is a rare case.

RE: climate control S500

Hello Yes when I press the REST button it would turn off but in less than 5 seconds it will turn on again, , the temperature is way below 80 degrees, did not use the car at all and yet the REST button would activate now that I have by accident re install the climate control unit to the car, its working normally even if the temperature is high after a long drive, the REST button does not turn on again, I am only worried if the trouble comes back again. What can you advice?

Also May i ask how to activate my stereo cause I disconnected ones the battery and now the radio won't work without the code, I lost my card a long time ago, my radio is a becker with serial number C6737053

Hello Peter,

What can be done to bypass the heater system, since it is practically hot in this country (Philippines) and heater has no use for this climate. Please advice what to do in order for the system not to activate. It started to function again when the ignition key is off and out , any way to deactivate the heater function? HELP?

RE: climate control S500

The heater flow is controlled by the monovalves, which are open by default, closed by elecrical voltage. I immagine you could pinch off the hose that feeds them. The valves are located on the front fender next to the auto level resvoier. The "rest" circulation pump is also there maybe you have a short in the wiring.
Your dealer should be able to get your code, I think BECKER will also sell it to you.

RE: climate control S500

Hello Peter,

Would you kindly tell me what will happen if I just disconnect the circulating pump, will it matter? What is the function of the circulatting pump? Yes I do notice that when the REST activates by it self, the circulating pump is also working, i tried disconnecting the electrical connector to the circulating pump and it seems that the other two relay or it looks round and shorter than the pump located right behind the taller pump, they seems to be hot , should I also take out the electric connection to that part? Thank you for your concern and the information you have given sound reasonable.

If possible , can you send your instruction to my e mail at philipsee1@yahoo.com.

RE: climate control S500

The circulating pump does just that, it pumps heated water when the engine is not running. I would immagine if you disconnected that some "hot" water will still get to the heater core. The two smaller valves control the flow, but as I previously stated they are normally open to flow, and closed by the heater control. Pinching off the hose or putting in a valve before the recirc. pump might do the trick' It is a complicated system.
Go this web page he has instructions to use the heater controls to diagnose problems.

RE: climate control S500

Hello Peter,

I disconnected the circulating pump and the two smaller one via its connector, still the REST button activates by itself, but this time the button light (red0 is in blinking mode, still it continues to function / activate by itself when the ignition key is set to OFF. I tried to see the web page you advice and yes, I notice that the test can be performed and will do the test tomorrow accordingly with the web page instruction. What other advice do you have in mind that can help fix this trouble, is there any proceedure to delete this REST function while the ignition key is turned OFF? When the ignition key is turned on and the car engine is running the REST key when press will not activate, is this normal?

RE: climate control S500

Dear Peter,

Even if the car has been rested and temperature is not hot at all, the REST function continue to activate (while ignition key is switched OFF). There was no sign of heat what so ever in both the engine, radiator, aircon cooling coil as well as any part of the car. i am really at a lost. I have observed that when the REST function is on, even the whole day, it does not stop from operating even when the temperature of the engine is cold.
