S500 sagging front suspension

S500 Will it help if I change the front shock absorbers to raise the height of the front section of the car? Its lower than usual, the coil springs are still original, I also notice some leak on the old damper

I'm working from faint memories in my mind here, but I think that

the S500 had ADS as an option (if yours is a late enough model. You don't say what year.). ADS adds the hydropneumatic struts to the front suspension, and these are responsible for adjusting ride height. Normal shock absorbers do not adjust ride height. So, if you have ADS, then the leak you say you see could be responsible for the strut not performing properly and ultimately for the sagging front end. If you don't have ADS, then I don't expect changing the shocks should do anything.

To identify ADS, look for hydraulic line connections to the front shocks/struts. In particular there is a rectangular box attached to the shock with hydraulic lines going to it. That is the valve that controls the suspension setting selected with the switch on the dash, soft vs. firm. Oh yeah, ADS will have a dash switch with a picture that looks like a shock absorber and a red light in the middle of it. I guess that's the easiest way to tell.

RE: S500 sagging front suspension

If your ADS damper is leaking, or even if your standard damper is leaking, it need replacement. Changing shock shims is a band aid way to fix the problem.. If it is really sagging, then either your ADS dampers is shot, or your spring is having issues and will need replacing.
If you are in need of anything, let me know, I have great prices!

RE: S500 sagging front suspension

found out the real culprit, my working crew changed the coil springs to a lowered one with out my knowledge, they were testing and trying to see if it would look good while I was out in New York and most probably forgot to set it back to its original coil, now I am looking for the old coil and could not find it, will need to purchase a new or surplus coil for both front and rear, my S500 W140 1993 has an ordinary gas shock on the front and hydrolic on the rear.

Any of you good guys out there who might have any idea or knowledge on climate control switches? kindly read my post (Climate control S500) need all the help I can get. Thank you guys for responding

My specialty is on the 126 body, i am absolutely lost when it comes to the 140 body, there seems to be too many faults on the 140 series.
