V12 Engine Questions??
M120 engine has 48 hydraulic lifters.. has anyone reported a failure..or a slow lazy lifter..Could viscosity of the oil affect operation..Would that give rough idle -poping in exhaust ?tried everything I can think of..but could do with a little help from my friends..(that is assuming I have any on this forum)...... before the men in white coats come and take me away..

If you've GOT to have a extension,
Have a BIG one.
We had a lifter in our 600 start to make a bit of noise.. Ran some Risolene in it for about 200 miles, changed the oil, no more noisy lifter.
If the passage way to one lifter or another got a little bit of sludge or some other blockage that could explain it being lazy under start up.
I could swear I saw something about the plugs possibly falling out of the ends of the oil passges supplying the lifters. This leakage reduces oil pressure to the lifters, causing them to get noisy. Sort of like internal bleeding. I think it may have been a techinical bulletin, but I can't remember if this was the V8 or V12 engine. I'll look around.
p.s. You can consider me your friend[:)]

Peter G jogged my ailing memory. I did see that article on Jim F's webpage. Here's the link to it...

Keep in mind that this concerning a V8 engine. I'm not sure if the V12 can suffer from the same thing. I'll keep digging. Do any other V12 owners have info in this?
