In the top left corner of the w140 page is a red button that says "new topic". click that and punch in your question or topic in the subject line, then expand on it in the main box.

for posting pics get an account on photobucket.com and after you upload a pic to there, copy and paste the img tag into your topic where you'd like to post a pic.

Hi all! I'm still fairly new to the forum and you guys are awesome! There's so much information and you guys helped me come to a definitive decision to buying a W140. And well....here it is! My Big Baby '92 500SEL! It's stock standard and I don't plan on 'modifying' it at all. Just the normal upkeep and maintenance.
Let me know what you think....Thanks!

Thats quite an interesting car, were those seat covers a factory option for that car?

I asked the same thing to the MB dealer and he said back then, the sheepskin covers were an added option. The car has 300,000kms on it and when I bought few months ago, the dealer said that they look like it's never been taken off. I believe him, because some parts of it (like the rear headrests) are a bit dirty from years of build up of dust. I've benn umm-ing and ahhh-ing about whether they look better off or on. What do you reckon, should I take them off the seats?

Well, I bet that with the heat you guys get overthere it must be a bit yuck, that and if they have been there since the car was new the seats must be a 100% new under it. Also in climate like yours the lighter leather will wear better too. I'd take them off, you can always put them back on.

Hmmm..good point. Melbourne doesn't get too hot unlike say, Brisbane. Like you, we're approaching winter and at night, it starting to get down to 9 degrees. And unfortunately, my 500 is like a 'base' model so it doesn't even have heated seats
You're right...I can always put them back on....!

On another note, do you know anything about sunroofs? Mine slides back and forth but the tilt won't go all the way up; only goes up about 2mm. I don't want to force it incase I stuff it up!

Post a thread about it, I don't know I don't have a sun roof on my car. My car was imported from Singapore so I don't have heated seats either, it snowed today here too, now thats cold!
