Sorry guys, im a 'noob' at this. I just recently acquired this '93 400SEL. Whenever i turn the parklights and/or headlights on, a warning light that resembles a light bulb comes on. I'm not sure as to what it means..my first impression is that it is a bulb failure warning. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
PS...the warning light is only active when the lights are on.
Yes, the lightbulb indicator on the dash indicates a bulb failure. The dash indicator only comes on when the failed bulb is put into use. This means that if a headlight were out, the dash indicator would only come on when you went to turn on the headlamps. Likewise, if a brake lamp were out, the dash indicator would only come on when your first stepped on the brake pedal. The indicator will go out and reset when you take the key out of the ignition and then repeat the process of not coming on until the failed bulb is turned on after putting the key back into ignition. This can be helpful in isolating the bulb - if you press the brake pedal and no dash indicator, then the brake bulbs are OK. If the indicator first comes on when you use a turn signal, then the signal bulb is out. At least this has been my experience. One time the indicator was driving me crazy and it ended up being one of the license plate bulbs!
