Removing wood console on S320

Hi all,

How can I take out the wood console piece (around the gear shift) on an S320? I know this has been covered before, but cant find the posts!

Can anyone point me to the right thread, prefrebly with some pictures as I'm a novice at this!

Thanks!

RE: Removing wood console on S320

Prior to 95, remove ash tray, loosen coverscrew, slide up and remove, look down into opening, two lateral "torx screws" holding both panels together, remove screws with right angle torx.
Remove trim around shift lever by gently prying up, with a non scratching tool. Pull up panel and forward from ashtray side, rear has "u" shaped catch that is holding into console. The switches are attached and you can go from there. If you break those "u" s you will hate yourself, since they are part of the frame that holds the switches. The frame is hot glued and stapled to the panel, there are some still available, otherwise $$$ panel.

Thanks for the reply! I should have said my S320 is a 97! Is that a different procedure?

Thanks!

I think so, but not confident, see if it applies. I heard the later years were a little different

In looking at the CD it appears the panel is one piece rather the previous two piece, and has to be released at the arm rest compartment side and then pivots up at the dash.
