hi all,
i have a 1995 s600 and my cousin has given me the wheels from his 2000 s500 because he got new ones. i installed the wheels and they ride and lookgreat. the only problem is that the lug nuts protrud out a little farther than they did with my wheels which were flush. is this normal or do i have to get shaoter lug nuts to accomodate the new rims or do they make some kind of lug nut cover? any input on this will be very helpful. thank you one and all. dominick
It seems you sould just buy a set of MY2000 lug bolts.
They're designed to fit the MY2000 wheels. I'd check the offset of the new wheels to make sure they're the same or very close to the original '95 wheels.

I have also W220 wheels in my W140 for winter. They are a perfect fit with only 5 mm difference in offset. However, I have noticed the same as you of protruding of nuts. Obviously there is nothing you can do about it. Look at the W220 with the same wheels, they do look the same.

I got 2001 S55 AMG rims on my 93 S500, and same deal... lugnuts portrude a bit in the back while front ones are recessed. Doesn't matter, I am driving with them the way they are, doesnt look too bad

If it bothers you, it's as simple as getting new bolts for the wheels. If they are protruding out, you want to make sure they're not hitting the back when they're screwed in all the way. Simple check is to see if the wheel is loose after tightening it all the way. If it is, obviously don't drive on it till you get new bolts that are shorter. If not, then it's just an aesthetic thing.

That or all of you guys above need 5mm wheel spacers. 5mm or less also happens to be the only size spacers MB will recommend in their own literature. Anything over that causes vibrations.
