my dad owns a mercedes 600 sel v12
The speakers in the rear doors and the
rear shelft dont work.
After some reading i concluded this
problem is most of the times caused
by a broken amplifier.
I dont think there was a 1991 600SEL, it probably is a 92. The radio is a two piece affair, the dash part being the control, and the tuner is in the trunk at the base of the drivers side rear wheel. If the car has the "CD" the output of that is routed to the cd and back to the tuner, two big din plugs. The dreaded amp sits on top of the rear wheel housing next to the gas tank, the cosing assist pump is also up there. Remove the wheel liner and the liner in the back of the trunk/gas tank/ package shelf it will make it so much easier. There are seven amps serving eleven speakers, and the radio is changed in 93 I think to a one piece. The symptoms are usually scratchy, low audio, I had my amp rebuilt and they did the tuner at the same time three years ago...
well, i checked once again, and the car is from 7 august 1991.
Tommorow im going to dig up the amplifier and will
try to fix the problem.
Thanks for your helpfull answer!
