oil pressure question
I have a 96 S320 and the oil pressure gauge on my dashboard stays right above 0 at idle, and only goes up a to about the 1 when accelerating. I was wondering if this is normal or not??

RE: oil pressure question
As long as you never see "0", it means you have at least some pressure. ZERO is bad. Considering this is a MB and not a Ford, it's not normal. I would invest in a new oil pressure sender as a first step. These can go bad after time and provide false readings.

RE: oil pressure question
If you use a very thin synthetic oil (like Mobil 1 5W15) your oil pressure readings will be lower than usual.
If you are using the specified regular oils, then the readings seem a little low. Checke the oil pressure sender as recommended above.

RE: oil pressure question
I just did a oil change and the reading now stays at the 1 - I will first replace the oil pressure sender as you recommend. Thanks

Don't know...not familiar with six's. Try Phil. He may have a diagram to share with you. I would suggest subscribing to Alldata.com. They have a lot of info for W140's. I've been happy with their info.
