hello guys, i just wanna know the basic sepicifacations of my car, i just recentlly bought a w140 S600, i dont have an owner's manual so any info about my car will greatly be appreciated, what's the the best mpg for my car, i usually reach 280kms for a full tank, i dont use the car everyday b'coz of its thirst for fuel, what can i do to maximize to lessen fuel consumption? any recall or common defect with the V12 engine? thanks in advance :)
with gentle use it should do about 15mpg - so you are getting 170 miles to 100 litres (22 gallons) = 7 mpg....[:0] (=11 km / gallon = 11 km per 4.55 litres = 41 litres per 100 km)
do you live at the top of a mountain?[:P]
check all the cylinders are firing (remove al the spark plugs) to start with - a v12 vcan sound fine even when loads of cylinders are not firing...
thanks for you're reply, i live in the city, my car is on 18 rims does this have anything to do w the high fuel consumtion? il try to check the spark plugs, or better yet ill bring the car to a shop that can tune up the car, the car emissions smells like unburnt gas, does my car have a fuel mixture adjustment? how many liters of oil for the engine? tranny? ang power steering? i havnt change any of the fluids yet.
idle - 675 rpm
oil temp for CO test - 60 'C
CO at tailpipe at idle 0.5 max vol.%CO
HC level at idle - 100ppm
CO2 level at idle 14.5-16%
O2 level at idle - 0.1 - 0.5%
increased speed for CO test 2200 - 2800 RPM
CO at increased speed - 0.3%
lambda at increased speed - 0.97 - 1.03
spark plugs
bosch F8DCO / F8DC4
NGK BCP6ES
0.8mm gap
fuel pump pressure - 5.3-5.5 Bar
system pressure without vacuum - 3.7-4.2 Bar
coolant temp sensor - 325Ohms at 80'C
injector rewsistance - 14-16 ohms
oil pressure 3.0 bar at 3000 rpm
cylinder compression (remove spark plug and test pressure of cylinder) 13.5 bar - 15.5
engine oil - 10W40
10 litres
only use genuine MB fluid in the gearbox...
hope that helps..
check all the other fluids - this is an expensive engine when it goes wrong!
18's wouldnt halve the gas milage though... might make a 1 mpg difference tops...
anyway - the exhaust shouldn't smell of fuel. somthings seriously wrong...
-the simplest test is to use an oil can - put a drop of oil on each of the exhaust pipes - with a cold engine.
-start engine
-look at all the drops
- some will start to smoke quickly, others will take much longer. the slow to smoke ones are the cylinders that are either not firing or running very badly.
