RE: navigation system

Putting a Mercedes MCS navigation (from the ML320/ML430) is plug and play for the W140. The harnesses fit perfectly.

It will cost about $900-1000 for a used MCS unit off Ebay, and installing it will cost nothing... You can see my prev posts for pics of the MCS unit I installed in my W140.

Cheers,
Rainmaker

What I can't understand is why it is necessary to go to so much trouble instaling a system in your car. why not just buy a hand held unit for 1/2 the money? What is it that the installed unit can do that the hand held won't do??
I readily admit that I know nothing about the various systems so there may be very good reasons.

RE: navigation system

I have a Magellan roadmate 700 it is absolutely fantastic. But! at $1,300.00 US it aint cheap. Those palm based or hunting type units are very minimal and only hold a relativly small area, you have to download new info when you travel. The Magellan has a 20 gig hard drive and contains every thing you will ever need.
