ADS warning light and system function question

The ADS dash light on my car is coming on occasionally while driving. When it comes on, it stays on until the car is turned off. It doesn't always light up. I've had the computer fault codes read, and one code was for the right front body acceleration sensor. This may explain the light if in fact the sensor has a failure.

My question is this. Does anyone know how the system operates in the presence of a fault such as this? Does it become completely non-operational (defaulting to comfort setting or something), or does it work as best as it can ignoring input from that sensor? I ask because I tried to feel the difference between the comfort and sport settings by hitting the switch and doing a few quick side to side maneuvers and lane changes. I didn't notice an obvious difference, leading me to believe that the system isn't functioning. Is the difference between comfort and sport readily apparent? Any help?

Thanks,
Brett
