Hey Guys, I've got an important question for y'all. What ...

speedometer error do you get with your car? My S320 appears to be registering higher than actual by about 5% or so meaning when it says I'm doing 63, I'm really doing like 60.

What do you experience?

All cars have slight speedometer errors. Not an unusual thing to notice.

press the "rest" button on the climate control unit... 8 secs... then switch to #22 speed reading... seems very accurate there... my speedo reads 160 while doing 154 and 216 while doing 208 km/h

Accuracy is a relative word. When you say your speedometer is accurate, what are you measuring against? And how accurate is that baseline you are measuring against?

Now if you said you used a doppler device...like the one they use at the tracks, we might have a standard baseline to say "yes, my speedometer is accurate...etc"...at lease until your tire wears out a little bit..then your speedometer will be off by that much...

I remember reading an article on this issue regarding the speedometer errors on a few different manufacturers. Forgot if it was in Car and Driver or Road and Track.

I too remember that one of the magazines used to...

measure the speedo error as part of their road test analysis. I don't remember which one did, but I haven't notice C&D or R&T doing it now, but then again, maybe I've just been overlooking it.

I don't thing it's a big deal specially that the speedometer didn't show 80 Km while you do 120 Km in this situation there is a Problem [:0] With Police Radar [:D]

From a magazine test (for a 1996 S300TD)

Speedo = 215 km/h
Real spped = 208km/h

Rev counter = 4550 rpm
Real = 4450 rpm

Where do you get this info? Would be nice to know which buttons to push to check different data.
