sunroof

Hi fellow benz owners.
I have a problem.
My sunroof is really tight, I must assist it by pushing with my hand. I've tried lubricating it but it dosen't work.
Anyone have a cure for a tight sunroof?
Thanks [;)]

RE: sunroof

Personally, I'd take it to the dealership & get an estimate. Is it the cable or the seals? I found a thread about removing the sunroof that might help. But then again, I'm no mechanic. I'd rather pay someone than spend an entire weekend possibly doing a 1 or 2 hour job. -LOL- Please keep us posted.

According to jds1982 of Watauga, TEXAS dtd 2/29/2004:

"Alright folks- write this down...

I had my headliner half way down when I realized I didn't have to pull the headliner at all. After opening the sunroof, you just remove the screws holding the track guides. After removing the two piece track guides, have a compadre (helper to all you northern fans) crank the sunroof from the trunk while you guide the front of the sunroof over the wind deflector. You can actually go far enough to completely expose the rear seal. Just yank the old one out, clean up the surface, and install the new seal, making sure you cement the ends. Then while your helper cranks the sunroof the other way, guide the sunroof until you get it back into full open position again. Then you can change the front seal and the side felts. The front seal is actually the hardest to install due to its design. You will need soapy water and calloused finger tips (if you play guitar you're all set).

Once your done installing the seals, grease up your guides and re-install them. I had to adjust the felts several times in order to get the sunroof to close correctly. They make for a real tight fit but I figure once the sun heats them up a few times they will settle in just fine.

Good luck trying this on your own!"

RE: sunroof

Hi merc man [:)]

It sound there is some area with surface corrosion this is common problem such as the weather seal get fail after a period and the moisture OR water are likely to stay at the edge of the Roof.
Check that and if there is a sine of corrosion it's better to treat it soon . [:D]
