I had a bad one two years ago. Only a very faint breeze came out of the air ducts, even at full blower speed. So the regulator was replaced by MB. Expect to pay $300 for a new one. Some 50,000 miles later the blower itself stopped (after 280,000 miles). The copper collector was worn out, and it couldn't be repaired said a electrical specialist. Furthermore, MB only could deliver a new one ($700), which included a new regulator! [:(!] So I looked around a bit for a good second hand ($100), now blowing faithfully another 60,000 miles [;)]
My advise is to always replace the blower (pollen)filter according to MB maintenance schedule. Otherwise, when the filter gets choked up to much, both blower and it's regulator suffer.
