What gas mileage do you guys get on your W140?

With gas prices through the roof these days, probably some of you may have been monitoring your gas mileage.

On a full tank, my car goes less than 550kms (340 miles). This is with the 6 cylinder 3.2l engine. It seems I get less than 15 mpg!! What do you guys get?

Cheers,
Rainmaker

If I put in 100 liters, filling to the brim on a S600 I expect to have to fill up again at 380-390 miles later, as soon as the low fuel light comes on .

RE: What gas mileage do you guys get on your W140?

I've become the type of driver I use to hate while driving around town, i.e., a slower, more sensible driver (non-aggressive) who attempts to drive at an even pace (no rapid accelerations or braking) & never seems to be in a hurry to catch the next traffic light. -LOL- I'm also combining errands into one trip which saves time and money.

I actually get pretty close to what the government agency has for the car. (see hyperlink)

400 miles to a tank - about 80 - 90 litres - equates to 21 mpg (uk gallons)

at up to 90p per litre (4.54 litres = 1 uk gallon) [:0][:(!][xx(]

Yikes, looks like my car is running quite poorly compared with others. I'm thinking it could be:

1) Check Engine Light due to Cylinder 5 misfire, but I've since changed the spark plugs, and the light never came back.

2) Low octane fuel in US (85 octanes) at Arco. Though I still notice poor mileage at 87 octane.

3) Transmission "slipping". My car rolls back at Red light on what seems to be a slight incline.

Hmm, I guess I have to begin investigating this.

rainmaker:
you are getting poor economy for sure.

About a month ago i filled up with 92 octane at chevron, to the brim, to see how far i could go on a tank, 100 liters. i set the trip meter to zero.

i drive very conservatively, and try to time the lights so i don't have to stop, (zero mpg while stopped). next time i filled up it took 94 liters, way past the low fuel light stage!! the trip meter way just past the 1000 kilometer mark. i also keep the tires pumped a little harder to get less rolling resistance.

RE: What gas mileage do you guys get on your W140?

80~85 liters gives me 500 km, thats about 16L/100 abit of city, a bit of highway (14.7 MPG)

if I do all highway, I get 13.3L/100 (17.7 MPG)

if I do all city, I will be around 17.5L/100 (13.4 MPG)

its a 93 500
