Clear Headlights . . . where are they from?

Hello everyone,

I came across this picture of a W140 on Ebay, and I really love the clear headlights! Do you know where these come from? Are these the Euro-spec headlights? Aftermarket?

Thanks for the help!
Bryan

RE: Clear Headlights . . . where are they from?

They are just new headlights. Over time, moisture builds inside of the headlight assembly and they start to look dull. This is mostly a problem for E-Class models before 1998.[8D]

Really? Just new headlight lenses? Weird . . . I always thought that the lenses were only clear in Europe . . .

Well then, if it is just moisture, has anyone ever tried pulling off their lenses and cleaning them up?

Does anyone know how much new lenses are from the dealer? I already have a chip in one anyways . . .

Regards,
Bryan

So these are actually the same headlight lenses? First one "dulled" second one "bright" ?

It's kind of weird because the "dulled" lens isn't yellow as you would expect from moisture and oxidation . . .

Bryan

The pictures above aren't of my car . . . I just haven't had the chance to take any digital pictures of mine yet; however, I do have the same S600-style grille as in the bottom picture. If you guys don't have that grille, I suggest you get one! That is probably one of the simplest and cheapest mods that you can to update the appearance of the car! I got mine as an OEM from Mercedes after an accident ($800CAN from the dealer), but aftermarket ones sell on Ebay in the $100CAN range. It makes a huge improvement in the appearance of the car, without being tacky!

Bryan

Hmmmmnnn... I dunno. Look at these ebay lights. http://i21.ebayimg.com/03/i/01/6b/dc/62_1_b.JPG They are used, and maybe starting to dull, but "frosted" and crystal clear are two different things. Those lights he posted look "clear"

Plus, look at all these new "crystal clear" light products coming out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2477580100&catego ry=33716

Yeah . . . I've seen the crystal clear taillights and signal lights too . . . but where to find the crystal clear headlight lenses? I think they look great!

Put some crystal clear headlight lenses with some crystal clear signal lights and it would look awesome!

Bryan
