RE: How many of you have rear windshield "foggy" up??
I have had my rear windscreen fog up - it looks awful [:(!]
Basically, moisture gets in between the laminated glass and there is nothing you can do other than to get a new screen fitted or cover it up - I believe there are several people on this forum that have managed to swing a replacement through their insurance.
My screen in heavily tinted (almost black) so I got some plain black stick on sun visor sheet which I cut down to size. I stuck this strip over and across the base of the screen and it covers the fogging perfectly. The strip is hardly noticeable from the outside as most of it is hidden under the boot door and it does not encroach above the base line into the visible area.
I have this problem too. It's off white in color, looks wet, and is building up on the bottom left and right corners of the rear window. It's also been getting worse as of recent, otherwise I first began to notice it about two years ago. Now it measures about 2" by 2" in each corner - pretty gross looking. I do have glass coverage, but a rather large deductible for such - so, not a likely remedy for this case (w/ no breakage). Guess no remedy other than replacement / or cover up via tint...? Don't really understand how this came about , as I've never been in an accident (that would have loosened any of the window mouldings...
I think everybody will get this problem sooner or later. I have it now and I had it on my 126. Seems to be limited to the screens that use the very fine filaments for some reason.

The white is caused by water being absorbed into the laminate layer , its called hydroscopic absorbsion.. I would say that if yours is not to bad then you should be able to recover it by first removing the screen and then by drying the layer out.. I might suggest a hairdryer or a paint stripper to get the whole screen warm so you dont break it and then heat the area that has gone white sarting from the clear side and going to the edge.. then seal the edge with a ptfe tape.. of course prevention is better than cure..and if you dont have this problem yet you can stop it happening so as part of the 5 year plan remove the metal strip surrounding the bottom of the rear screen and clean all the junk out then make sure the rubber that mounts the screen in is clean has no bits of dirt under it allowing the water to get in and just lie there, thats how the problem starts. I treat mine with wax and a rubber trim cleaner.. Thats real wax.. not car polish wax..DO NOT USE A SILICONE SEALANT.. you will never get it off the glass..
