LPG ???

I know this is not good but(and if you can all stop shouting for a moment)I would like to know if anyone has put a sequential LPG system on a V12. My local authority are going to introduce a ban on large engines in the town center, but ok if running LPG or elecric or hydrogen. I dont want to do the PARK & RIDE bit. I am a confirmed petrol head, still in therapy!! [}:)]

RE: LPG ???

What is this LPG you speak of? Is it some anti-gas-guzzler feature they are campaigning? Guess it's time to change back to the good ole inline six...

RE: LPG ???

Yes Leicester City Council(working for you)have said they intend to make the area inside the ring road polution free, banning all stuff that isnt LPG or lecky or Hydro. They expect me to PARK the car, get on a BUS to get to work etc. So I heard there was a company in HOLLAND doing a sequential LPG system. They have done others -I heard??
but just need to get more info before I dismiss it outa hand[}:)]

RE: LPG ???

yes it is possible - im getting my V8 done...

about 1800 quid. there are several lpg forums about - have good look, and make ABSOLUTLY SURE that your car is running right first - lpg is not as forgiving as petrol and will run rough if the car isnt quite right. have a look at http://pages.prodigy.net/jforgione/MB_S500.html and check for any faults and get them fixed first - and a full service (esp plugs / mas sensors etc)

then enjoy cheap fuel ;)

RE: LPG ???

LPG is hugely popular here in Australia I have a friend who has run a 560 on dual fuel for years. Points to note don't go for the cheapest quote a Benz wasn't made to be fooled around with by backyard mechanic's. You will get less milage with gas but it is heaps cheaper. From a maintenance perspective the car must have clean air filters replace every 25000Km. Gas burns hotter so Platnium plugs don't like gas, run the Bosch plugs with 4 electrodes we have found they last well are far cheaper than platnium plugs and if you start the car on gas it starts easier with these plugs. It doesn't hurt to fit an upper cylinder lubricant kit either has this avoids burning of the valves yes you can still burn hardened valves.

Hope this helps Mat

They probably dont get many people with a 12 that need that, not enough demand to warrant making the kit. Do the cops check to see? You could just debagde your car and nobody would have to know. Or, rebadge it to say "S280", the cops won't recognise it.

RE: LPG ???

In the UK all our info on the car is done via the number plate, so the cops just punch in the number, and ALL the data about the car comes up, The owner, colour, vin number last MOT certificate, insurance, milage etc so not realy an option, there are guys in germany with LPG on their cars, but none of them seem to have a clue about this website so no information. But I know it has been done coz I have seen it.
