electrical faults

Anyone here ever have a weird ground problem with thier w140? Mine is telling me I have a blown bulb when I don't. My warning/reminder buzzer buzzes when I leave the lights on even when the the doors are closed. Plus my warning ligths flash like a christmas tree when I activate turn signals, or windshield wipers. I had the alternator replaced and no change. Anyone have an idea what the hell is going on? [:(]

RE: electrical faults

Hi,i have had very similar faults on my last two w140's!Both turned out to be the multi-function relay in the engine compartment.Located behind the fuse box.I swapped mine with a known good one to confirm and then put it into the main dealers(saving time and money on diagnosis). The relay is about £122.00 in the UK.[:)]

RE: electrical faults

THANKS Merc! I have many of the same problems as described above, except for the Christmas light flasher thing. I've learned to ignor much of that though because I'm usually dealing with things that just keep the car running, like more radiator going south 3 weeks ago. WHY can't these these cars just run for 6 months problem free? I'll have my guy look into this multifunction relay thing.

Agreed. Except for minor issues, which i consider regular wear and tear.
