Park Sensors and reverse lights

Hello all!

Having a problem with my S600. The rear parking sensors (parktronic, not the little rods) have recently stopped working for no apparent reason, as have both the reversing lights. I suspect a fuse, but do not know which one and how to check if it's broken.

Also, as mentioned in earlier threads, my headlight wipers are also out of sinc. Turning the lights on fixes this, but only until the wash/wipe system is used again, and one stays in the upright position. Does anyone have a permanent fix for these problems.

Many thanks. Wiffbenz.

RE: Park Sensors and reverse lights

does the sensor display have a set of yellows, then two reds?

are the two reds on?

have you accidently switched it off (swich near central console... ;) )?

parktronic fuse is marked in the fusebox in the trunk

usually one sensor goes out, and needs to be replaced - not that bad - 30 - 40 quid (40-50 bucks?) - but this gives the error above - just the red lights on)

RE: Park Sensors and reverse lights

Nope, the red lights aren't on (indicating a fault)and it is definitely not switched off, as the front sensors still work fine. Both the rear sensors and the rear reversing lights went at the same time? So i'm very confused. Help!

The what now? What's a reverse switch? Sorry, but i'm not too good with technical language[:D]. Just want to try a fix it myself, so do not have to pay MB dealer fees. Please people, need a easy and cheap fix (impossible on the W140, i know!)[:(]

RE: Park Sensors and reverse lights

under the gear selector lever is a switch (it might be on the gearbox) that is pressed / clicked / pulled whatever - when teh lever is in reverse. maybe this switch has got stuck? if you wiggle the gear lever when in reverse, do the lights come on?

someone else will tell you where the switch is hopefully...

AHHH..I see. Makes sense that that switch thingy is the answer, as neither reverse lights or sensors work. Car obviously doesn't KNOW it's in reverse. Have to try and fix it later. Thanks guydewdney.

RE: Park Sensors and reverse lights

it turns out the reverse (back up light switch) is also the starter non repeat switch. part number 000 545 62 06 for the 722.366 trans.

so - the question is - can you spin the starter again and again without having to turn the switch off completely? that would indicate that the switch is dead.

anyway - its on the gearbox behind the lever that is moved by the gearstick itself and the 'box

good luck

RE: Park Sensors and reverse lights

in my W126 i have the rear park sensor and he's connected on the reverse light (when I have repaints my car I have to dismount the sensors and I benefitted from it to look at how that functioned)
