92 600 SEL - air leak near back passenger tire (no tire leaks)

I just bought a 92 600 SEL with 45K miles. I hear a loud air leak near the rear passenger tire. The truck closer no longer works but all doors work great. The check engine light also came on about that time. Any suggestions. Thanks

The closing assist pump vents in the luggage compartment rear drivers side corner the hoses go up the hinges to the lid. You might have a leak in the trunk circuit, hose or diaphram. On that side is the gas tank lock. It can be checked with a hand held tester to see if there is a leak. pull the fuses for the closing assist, wait for about ten seconds, and put them back. If the lid works it probably is a bad pump, if no change check the lines etc. The fuses are in the trunk 9 & 10 I think. Search on "closing assist"

Thanks for the assistance. I actually just finished fixing the problem with the trunk. I pulled fuse 9. This allowed the pump to make an attempt at assisting the closing of the truck lid. It worked only once. Then I realized that the latch attached to the lid was not moving. I loosened up the two 10mm screws and adjusted the latch until it continued to allow the pump to assist in closing the lid.
