Would a '97 S420's stock amp plug and play in a '93300SE? I've called the dealer and they said the part numbers changed in '94, but he could no REALLY say it wouldn't work. Has anybody had any experience in this area?

For the knowledge pool's future reference. I followed this up with a local premium stereo shop today recommended to me buy the local MB dealership. A '94 and up W140 amp will NOT work in a 1993. I've found some great deals on this dealer listed $2400.00 (!!!)amp, but they were all too new.
Radio system from MB year models 91-93 are quite different from 94-up. The BOSE amp in your car is a 7 channel with the radio divided into a head unit in the dash and the tuner and amp in the trunk.
I had my Bose 7 Channel Amp in my 92 400se serviced by http://www.soundrepair.com/html/vehicle.htm in Florida. It's very easy to remove and send to their location. The company specializes in repairing this model amp. Mine works great now. The repair cost me $440 to have the unit.
Rather than buy new, have it rebuilt. Becker offers a rebuild service with warranty (better than BENZ) there are also some auth. repair facilities, mine in FL gave me a one year warranty and fixed the tuner (same capacitors) for $400 something
I know where to get a working '97's amp for no more than $150.00!!! I know where to get a working 93's anp for $500. I'm debating to go on and get the 97, and see if I can straight trade for the '93 or trade and sweeting the pot a little. Hmmmmnnn...
