advantage of double-pane window

One advantage of the double-glass that I discovered today is that if the outer one gets broken, you can still drive around for awhile with just the inner pane!

but the problem is that the glass alone is $1200usd!!! i don't know what to do, i might just live with a single pane for awhile...

the problem with the design of the side folding mirror is that if it hits something at highspeed, it will fold in and shatter the window, as can be seen in the pic:

RE: advantage of double-pane window

Man, that really sucks! I can't believe that the mirror can do so much damage!

Cool pic of the double-paned glass though [:)]

Bryan

RE: advantage of double-pane window

[V]Sorry for your misfortune. A good add for Mercedes safety however, no broken glass went flying into the car.
I don't imagine the mirror is going to be cheap either.

If you had full insurance, it should be covered.

the double pain def. helps protect against flying glass into the car! When my windows were shot on my 500SEL only the outter pain shattered which was nice cause I could still drive the car. It was especially nice cause it was raining at the time!

I have no idea what they broke it with, there was nothing inside my car but glass and a missing V1,however that same night a guy walked up to my car and told me to be happy they took off with his car!!!.....I replaced the glass with a aftermarket window but between the panes was haze so they sent out another one and it had the same thing.I ended up gettign my money back and going to Mercedes for a OEM Replacment.
