Idle control valve on '87 420sel. Is it suppose to hum when you have juice to it or is it suppose to click? I have extremely low idling rpm (500)and pulls a lot of vacuum (half the gauge). I disconnected the wires and from a cold (30degrees F) the engine started right up and idled about 1000rpm and not pulling any registered vacuum. After about a minute, and at which time I pushed on the gas pedal and reved the engine the idle dropped off to 500rpm and pulls the vacuum. I checked the voltage at pins 9 & 11 (12volts)which is ok. If I check continuity across the the two leads on the ICV it shows a short. I don't know if this is all right? Can someone enlighten me, please.
By the way I have virtually read all the 30 pages of this forum and like how people respond. Too bad other makes don't have the samething going. All of you are great. Problems and all. Thanks[:)]
