S-Class vs Other classes

As I mentioned in my previous post, I have garaged my 300 SEL for the winter. I had to do some running around yesterday, so I borrowed my wife's ML320.
I could not believe the difference in the quality of the ride. The M-class is a bit of a rough ride. I realize that it is classified as a mid size suv/light truck, but I expected a little more comfort from a Benz.
My question is:
How does the quality of the ride of other classes compare to the W126's? I am especially interested in the higher end E-classes and the newer cheaper mercedes.

I have the w126 and my mom has the new C class which is much more smoother but probably cause its new. Although whoever rides in my 126 compliments the ride.

to the W124

compared to our W124 the ride is smooth as glass on the highway but you feel every bump and rough part in the highway, compared to the W126 that stuff is unnoticable... compared to the newer E class i personally dont think it could be compared to the W126 but the ride is near perfect, although i didnt drive it was a very good ride
