That is nice

You're right, that is a very nice interior. Although it doesn't have the one option I would really like, those individually adjustable rear seats, like in the picture I've posted. It appears, you could also order an Alcantara trimed interior, although it doesn't always look so good. This and many other nice interiors can be found here http://www.mercedes500.de/galerie_polster.html

Thanks for the link!
You don't see the red leather interior very often. I have only seen it "live" in a W116 and W107s, but I really like it. Reminds me a little bit of a 1969 Vette I owned some 15 years ago.

The Red Interior

That red interior isn't very common at all, but I have seen a w126 in person with a red interior. It was a very nice silver ( I should know the official colour) 1986 or older 300SD with a red interior. Red seems kind of racy for a diesel, but I liked it. ALthough I like the red seats, I don't like seeing the entire interior full of red plastic and carpet. It would look much better with black trim. The all red seems to be a bit of an overload. If you had such an interior, the electric reclining rear seat, and something from Barry White playing on the becker tape deck, your passengers might get the wrong idea about you.

There were really a lot of odd interior options that I did not know about. For example this one, looks like how I imagin a Concorde or Boeing 747 1st Class cabin looked like in 1977...

Just goes to show, money can't buy taste.

Just think how much the original owners must have paid for their S Classes, but the proof (red / brown interiors) still exists that they had no taste.

If you loathe the red in the pictures above then I know you'd dislike the berry red interior offered on the new SL.
