Hello all 1990 560sel owners..Gotta question for ya..

... I've been looking at the whole wheel/tyre thing recently, and spotted&saved this ebay listing-
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=43955&item=24 29093148
My question is: were 6.5inch standard rim width on ANY US 560sel, or was 7inch (mine) the standard - thus making the above listing inaccurate?

Well, I'm close...

Heya Shrimpton:

According to the stuf that came with my 1989 560SEL, 7 was the factory standard. I also understand via my maintenance manual CDs that 89-91 was the same for wheels unless there was some kind of AMG package involved. The 6.5's were apparently used from 86-88 but given up in favor of the 7's which improved overall ride.

As mentioned a while ago, I replaced my wheels with 15x7 8-holers from Tire Rack. Been very happy with them! (Also the tires, too: Yokohama AVS DB S2's.)

Cordially,
OneTwoSix

PS for Shrimpton:
I didn't forget about the original alloys that you'd expressed interest in. But life intervened, ended up moving house, etc. However, when I finally got the old tires off the old rims, the result was something good for a planter not a tire rim! The old rims were too far gone to be rehabed, says my tire shop. Ah, well! I hope you find a good set at the right price! [:)]
