The ABS light comes on intermittently, day or night. The battery warning light comes on dimly (usually can be seen well only after dark). The battery and alternator charging seem to be fine, per voltmeter readings. Headlights and wipers and other electrical stuff all operate normally. I've read the posts about the overvoltage relay. The 10amp fuse is not blown. Tapping on the relay does not change things. None of the posts seem to say anything about the dim battery warning light. This all started one night when I flashed the high beams at another car's bright lights. Do I buy a new relay, or do I check other stuff further first? I'm electrically inclined, and have the service manual CD with schematics.

I'd place my money on the alternator. I had the same think happen to my 560. The charging system tested okay, but various warning lights increasingly flickered and glowed. The next day I got stuck on the freeway. After a $100 tow, I replaced the alternator and all was well. [:)]

the OVP is not a bad thought, either. my car had weird electrical stuff going on from time to time (SRS light would flicker, the center console lights would go out, then come back on, my turn signals would quit working for an hour), all of which stopped after i replaced the OVP relay.

I guess that's why we all love these cars so much, they appear to have been carefully designed with the intent of creating multiple fracture points, so that no single solution will solve any single problem.
The end result being that even the simplest problem will require several trips to the dealer to purchase multiple parts, until you happen upon the actual part that is at fault.
