The 'up' side of the driver's window switch failed yesterday. It felt like it snapped down on the front of the switch when I pressed it to close the window, and now the window will not go up. The 'down' side works okay. Good thing I have it garaged.
How do you get to the underside of the switch? The service CD is not clear (to me anyway) on the instructions for removing the center console area where the switch resides.

This is a nice easy repair for you to DIY. New switches are cheap, even from the stealership you are only looking at about $10. When one of mine broke, I just ordered 4 new ones from thebenzbin.com and replaced them all.
To switch the switches :) just take out your ashtray insert, then remove the two screws that are exposed, then gently pull out the whole ashtray assembly.
Then the coin-tray lifts up from the front, then forward to remove. Then the switch panel slides forward about 1cm, then up and off.
Be very gentle with the wood panel, it is extremely prone to cracking when you are removing and reinstalling it.
The switches are held in place with spring-clips, they are fairly easy to R&R, but again, be gentle or your wood will crack and/or chip.
Just take your time with it, and you'll have no problem. [:)]
