Vacuum timing advance problem on an '81 380SEL

Hi

I just purchased an '81 380SEL (only 167,000 km) but it is missing the vacuum line for the ignition timing.

Can anyone help me with the colour codes of the vacuum lines to the distributor and, if possible, where the advance vacuum lead comes from (the whole lead seems to be missing but it may be just tucked out of sight).

Thanks

A digital photo of the distributor would be great. Any info would be appreciated (particularly the color of the vacuum leads into the distributor).

the vacum lines attach under the dist. and are dual colored which i could not make a usefull picture. If you draw a picture with lables a b c etc. I could rely by writing a = green/ blue etc. Naturly if you have a easier way to achieve this, that s fine to. If I am not clear, let me know if you still need it, I will reply

I only have one vacuum lead going into the ignition timing module and that is yellow with an orange tracer. That one is on the left of this unit looking at it from the front of the car.

On the right hand side, but a little higher, there is the timing advance input - currently just a soft black hook-shaped rubberised lead which is there for a stiff plastic vacumm - probably coming from one of the two vacuum switches on the left-hand side of the engine bay.

There are a number of those plastic vacuum leads running from the switches and passing underneath the timing adjustment unit and I presume that the missing vacuum lead is part of that collection of vacuum leads.

I appreciate your assistance with this as the car is using bulk fuel as the timing advance is not working. I purchased a double CD set which is supposed to have the workshop manuals in them. They arrived today. Unfortunately, only one worked, and that didn't include the vacuum info. Aaaarrrggghhh!!!!! [:(]

I just got done working on my timing chain and, in the process, I snapped the vacuum tube (appears clear, no orange stripe) going to the ignition module (227 400 693). The engine is idling very rough now.

Firstly, could this be a cause of the rough idle? Secondly, where does this vacuum tube go from the ignition module?

I'm working on a '91 420 sel.

I was just looking through the factory shop manual and in 1981 some of the models do not have a vac hose going to the distributor, they only have the black curved hose facing down probably so water won't get in and says it is to vent to atmosphere.
