Normal operating temperature for '84 300SD Turbo Diesel


1984 300SD Turbo Diesel owners or similar

What is the normal operating temperature you are seeing?

I'm seeing 100 Celsius on freeway driving.

That is a little hot for an SD. Your thermostat is probably stuck open. Easy fix that happ...

It should be running at about 90 degrees, running at 100 is not hurting it, if you are won...

It should be running at about 90 degrees, running at 100 is not hurting it, if you are wondering, but all three of my fathers 300SD's run just over the 80 mark on the gauge.

you should running at 80 degrees. over 75 mph for a prolong period it may move up one or two degrees. mine went over 85 and i lost a big end,and an engine block.

80 degrees celcius is the correct temperature for the car to be running at.
