Can't garage my car and Winter is coming. Worst local scenario is -5 Celsius frost, but more normal is potential miserable wind driven rain. I can't rely on local Auto shops for reliable info. I want to buy the best, so please let me know from your own experience. Many Thanks.

Hmm, how come? I am using the California Car cover custom cover (stormguard or something) on my SEC. A couple gripes, but overall wonderfull. What makes the covercraft cover good for you? Just curious, wonder if its time for me to get a new cover...heh.
well.....i've never heard of California Car Cover etc., so i'm unable to pass comment on what you are using, it may well be as good as covercraft.
i did use 2 other makes before i got to covercraft (don't remember their names), and covercraft is way superior in every way and form to those two.
i've been using the cover on my mercedes since 1991 with absolutely no wear and tear. but here's the catch, the cover is used while the car is in the garage, hence protected.
the car had an attempted breakin in 1993, but they couldn't get through the cover, so in frustration they broke the rear windscreen with a bat....but the cover held.....i didn't get to the car for a month, and the cover hadn't let any water etc get into the car. remember, this cover wasn't meant for outdoor use, but at the time the car was outside.
but with the bmw, whose cover i got back in 1995 - that one's taken a beating. the car is 50% exposed to the elements (which in London is a lot of rain and sleet), and the vehicle remains parked as such for 6-8 months of the year at a stretch. In fact, the cover i'm using is not really recommended for outdoor use, but it has still protected the car immaculately, with no damage to itself.
That for me has been the ultimate test for the cover.

How are you securing the cover down that well? My cover only locks in the middle of the car and the back and the front can potentially still be flipped open. Its as if the design was more to keep the cover from being stolen than to protect the car.
.. I'm keen to know of actual experiences and have read of Stormguard somewhere, so please advise the pro's and cons. (I don't want to end up buying an expensive lemon just for the name, or because the tailor made Merc. branded covers look the best but perform like a tent in harsh wind or rain) All input much appreciated. T.Y.

The fitment is excellant overall, but the front doesn't go far enough down to stay put, and there is no way to lock the cover's front and back sides down. That's pretty much it. They offered to take it back, and add stretchy material to fix my problem, but i don't have enough time to leave my car uncovered during the shipping and modification time.
Also, i kind of expected the material to be a bit thicker than it actually was.
And my BIGGEST gripe of all (seriously) is that they put their logo, phone number, and website on the front of the cover. I take branding very seriously (I refuse to wear brands that have their logo displayed like NIKE and whatnot). I requested that they not put that logo, or put a patch over it, and they said they'd do their best, but of course that meant they didn't do anything about it.
Thanks Cyber, I'll pass on Stormguard - what about genuine Merc. covers - ANYONE?
Cyberdragons input is exactly what i'm looking for to save an expensive disappointment. Mercbuffs recommendation of Covercraft is looking pretty good so far.Anyone got feedback on genuine Merc. covers and how they hold up to the elements? Thanks.
