i have the key and have been able to remove the whole locking assy. out of the car. i'm not sure how the unit comes apart as the haynes manual does not have any pictures to follow. is there any pic's on the net that will help in removing the key cylinder and replacing the new one.
thanks
greg
If you can turn the key to ignition position one, then the barrel is easy to change with the right tool.
If you look around the outer edge of the disc where the key fits, you will see a small cut out. when the ignition is in position 1 (no other posistion will work), you need a tool which can be home made from any thin metal i.e. welding wire. The tool needs to be as near as possible to the diameter of the cut out. file the end of ot so it tapers.
then it will slide down the hole, if you do have the ignition in the wrong position it will not go down as the hole will not be lined up.
About 1-2 inches down the hole, is a pressure clip and as the tapered end goes over it it should press the clip down and release the barrel. You may have to wiggle it abit as it doesn't always go according to plan.
as for pictures on the net, i haven't got a clue.
