I'm looking for advice and I know this is a bit off topic. In my ongoing quest for an SL, I ran across a 1980 280SL that is a European model. Is anyone familiar with this version? Specifically was that 280 engine common in the US in other cars? Sorry for the off-topic but the 107 forum is a bit....well....dead.

Tks

What are you looking to spend? I know where there is a CLEAN '77 450SL. Something like 40,000 original miles.

I might be interested but

I have been primarily looking for '71 to 73 350Sl's or 450SL's. Maybe a 74 if not a California car. It seems that the advent of emmissions dropped the HP from 230 to about 160 by the mid 70's. A mid 70's would have to be something real special. I have missed several really clean ones in the 5 to 7,000 range. Also, prior to 74 they still had the european bumbers.

Oh can't forget.....red.

I'm no hurry and eventually the right one will pop up.

Oh, the 280 is sold. Story of my life.
