Battery Problem

After having my 1984 300sd turbo diesel for 4 years i realize that i have problems with my battery. My car for some reason dies very frequently. Does anyone else have this problem as well??? Should i replace the battery?

Alternator

How much do alternators go for? Also is it easy to change it?

Check the price at Gapa.com. They will give you an idea of what's available.

battery problem

I do not think the battery has anything to do with the engine running or in your case stalling, other than to start it and to help the alternator. You can check the battery static voltage (non running) it should read about 12.6 vdc then check it when running it should read about 13.4 to 14.0 vdc, you can use a multimeter.
