Ugh, exposed manhole

So how many of these might my car possess? I see something just like it and nothing is hanging down. I hear no increased noise and both pipes have exhaust coming out. Bolts don't seem damaged at all. Praying someone else bottomed on that thing too and the noise I heard was me hitting their part not mine dropping. 2 1/4" I think.

If I didn't have bad luck I'd have no luck.

That's a hack. Looks like a double reducer to connect a small pipe to a larger pipe or muffler. Look under the back of your car. If the tailpipe(s) and rear muffler(s) are still connected then I doubt it could have come from your car. If anything forward of there had broken you'd hear a big difference.

Wait. You see one of those under your car? Look on the other side in the same place.

(Still, it's a hack, not factory).

I've got something similar on mine but the coupe is safely parked in my driveway while I'm down in the Pocano Mountains with the Nissan Maxima.

It's a good thing too, because the stretch of I 81 through PA is the worst road in North America with numerous pot holes and the SEC would be running straight pipes from the manifold back.

It's even worse than the worst road here in town.
