I want to kill the Teutonic Twat who came up with the rear mounting bolt divet in the W126 front seats. It is a PITA to get at the dang bolts when the car is at PnP, with no power to the seats. The dang tools are not meant to access the bolts anyway, and you need a swivel extension to get at them.
I am working on removing the old seats from Allen (82 SD). Somebody down the line decided that the best way to "refresh" these was to paint them with something that rendered them the proper color but it looks really weird now. I think the seats are leather. EITHER WAY! The rear bolts get frozen, almost welded in and with no way to get decent leverage, are near impossible to remove.
AT least I could move the seat back and forward so I was able to have a bit easier access, but the F#$%!@* track is right over the bolt. I used a 1/4" and the 3/8 sockets on that 10mm bolt and finally got the outside bolt to let go and spin out. The inside bolt near brock the 1/4" swivel before it let loose. Sadly the nut on the end had rusted itself to the bolt and no amount of spin would get that bolt to come out. I had to resort to the recip saw after much BFH and chisel.
Now I need to rebuild the bolt hole for the inner bolt. Maybe something less prone rusting or spinning with no goodness. And yes, I did soak the bolts with PB blaster and Kroil a few hours before attempting the job.
