I'm an Audio Engineer by trade and love good sound systems. My LS 460 had a pretty good system. 19 speakers. Good but not great.
I was first spoiled by the Bose in my 92 500SEL. Those w140s sure sounded well and pretty much set the standard for me from there on.
I was gonna change out all the speakers in my 420, but the more I listen to it, the more I think it will do just the way it is.
A small box in the trunk would be nice, but Im not sure the work involved is worth it. Stock speakers are doing a fine job for a car this old. Car came with an Alpine deck, and Im sure the stock amps are by passed. A newer Alpine unit would pack a bit more punch. In comparison, my Lincoln Mark VII ( one of them) had a optional JBL premium sound and it was fantastic. A lot better than most cars in 1980s.
