w126 coupe audio

hi guys,

i know there have been much talk about it, but still wanted to ask because you know much more than me.

i have 1 gen mb 500 sec 1982 and want to put some audio in.

i think to take out original head and put in audio cd10 ( alpine witch came in r170) because it has aux.

and to take out speakers in front and back. to put in some amp in back and put new wires
max big speakers in front and in back but want to leave original fader!!!

question if this car aslo gad speakers 2 ohm?
and if i will put speakers in front and back 4 ohm if fader will work with them?

maybe you can recommend what are the best speaker what i can put in front and back? i heard here that Infinity Kappa could do the job?

and because car is at painter and cant measure if iam rigt in front biggest what i cant put is 6,5 inch and in back 4x6''??

and also question witch i dont know answer is what is the best way to put in hand free?
i thot eto put some divider in aux so i can attach BT hand free and some usb aux in.

You don't want to use the oem fader

Get an alpine CD-E 143 BT on Amazon for $100
It has Bluetooth built in

Infinity speakers are good , some people prefer morel

You said you are running new amplifiers and speaker cables - you can't run all the power through the oem fader

If you are concerned about how the unit looks in the dash the cd10 looks horrible !

It looks like the basic euro w220 radio , totally wrong look

If you want a unit that looks period correct , get a vintage blaupunkt or nakamichi

I stayed stock with my 560SEC. Added AUX In simply by soldering into the Tape left/right and ground, Super simple, Great factory look and suits me for what i wanted. I then got a cheap Bluetooth adapter from Ebay along with a 12 volt > 5.5 volt USB connector, Taped into the cigarette lighter for power and have full Bluetooth to the original Becker with all the wires hidden nicely behind the stereo. I can also use the 3.5mm cable if i want a directed plug in. Only downside is i have to put an old cassette tape into the deck to fool it into thinking its playing one. I can live with that.

My speakers in both cars are good and the sound quality is excellent.

What stereo do you have now? Most UK spec MB cars from what i remember did not have the MB/Becker setup from the Mid 80's up until 1994 - Its was an option from the factory this may have been the same for your car too?. Your Gen 1 if running a becker should have something like this a BE612

Yep it would be very difficult with that model.
Go Aftermarket or acquire a working Becker on Ebay for stock look.
