Hey guys,
So, my 560 SEL is back from the body shop, where the trunk lid WAS removed during the restoration process. Now, I have an issue where Fuse 15 keeps blowing each time the trunk lid is opened. The car is in storage for the winter, so I haven't had the chance to properly diagnose the issue, but I did do the following.
Fuse 15 has the courtesy lights on it, so I left the passenger side door open while standing behind the car. I am observing that every single time I push the button to release the trunk, even before the lid lifts an inch, the courtesy lights die as the fuse blows.
I have a bunch of backup white fuses, but I'm assuming this has to do with the trunk light. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Since the car is parked in a garage many stories below ground right now, I haven't actually opened the trunk after deducing this, to figure out what's going on. Is the wiring easy to access for the trunk light? I did note that the trunk light is not working, because obviously the fuse blows as soon as I pop the trunk...
ALSO, I keep seeing in the W126 forums that people recommend changing all the fuses out to the copper type. Where does one get these, and is there a part number to get them from MB?
