So ive seen a fair few of these threads but none seem to have a definitive answer.
Anyway.
300se starts and dies instantly, then will just crank and not start. It used to start and die and then start second time, everytime.
Ive replaced the fuel pump relay and there is no difference at all. Distributor cap is fine also..
It always had a funny idle when reversing also.
Was a really rough idle when cold until i cleaned up and replaced the OVP Relay too...
So yeah, all of a sudden it just died and wont start after getting home.
Have you checked if you have spark? I had a similar issue where the engine would just crank and it was an issue with the spark plugs. I thought they were fine, as I only checked ONE of them for spark, but I should have checked them all
First you find out if its spark or if its fuel . I purchased a spark tester you just put it on the spark plug wire, the little item is like a biro to look at. it lights up if its live. No spark after the usual fixes ,then it may be immobiliser or alarm.
Weirdo can you find the fuel pump relay . What year is this car .The relay can be in a few places .One, look at the rear of the cover at the back of battery . Or on 1989 in the fusebox .But for 1992 it will be fuse box in area of brake servo . Others are in the ECU .. You need to link up 7 and 8 on the relay if you find it , to run pumps non stop .But after you do this remove the relay jump wire , or it keeps the pump running so fuel is put in the injection all the time .This is dangerous so do remove the wire after .
Alright so I checked all the plugs today and they all have spark. 5&6 were cracked and the porcelain was no good, replaced them and still no start.
So, I thought to myself again 'it's probably the fuel pump relay' since the replacement is from a wrecking yard (waiting on a new one in the post)
The replacement was from a running car apparently, and the guy hasn't stooged me in the past, but I'm thinking although he believes the fpr is good, it isn't.
So, I tied cranking it while at the back of the car, the fuel pump makes no noise..
I'm thinking fpr but maybe it could be the pump it's self?
Was going to today but forgot the wire, car is 5 minutes down the road so it's a lil inconvenient, will try and report back tomorrow!
