Central lock (unlock) not working from drivers door

Hello all,

Strange problem onmy '87 300SDL. Central locking working fine except for unlock from driver's door.

From reading the various postings here and at other sites, it sounds like vacuum lines are often the culprit.

What was not clear was if it is an electrical switch in the door triggering solenoids on the vacuum system or if it was vacuum switches in each door.

IE: Should I be looking for a broken/leaking vacuum line going from the door to the central pump? Or a broken wire doing the same?

All comments are welcome!

Thanks,

Alan

(Proud new owner of a used but not abused W126)

leaking vac lines

I had the similar prob with my '90 560 sel...To check...first, find crack in vac line...usually can hear a hissing sound...if no hissing sounds from vac line then may be something else is wrong (lock?). But if hissing sound is heard, remove kick panel located to left of brake then remove door panel...find crack in line (mine was where hose kinks between door and frame)...remove bad section but leave lots of old line to work with locate line under kick panel and pull out...go to h'ware store with old line and find other line that fits snuggly over it...glue new line section on and weaveinto door panel and glue other end. That's it! But be sure new line is routed so nothing messes with it. Caio
