Im looking to put new rims on and wondering if i switch to lowering springs such as H&R what the max size I could have on. I currently have low profile 20's that I may sell, Do you think 18's or maybe even 19's would fit with lowering springs?
It's not wheel size (diameter) that matters, it's the offset. Research offset. I have 19's on my 88 300SE. Virtually zero offset in front and I had to roll the wheel opening lips to turn without cutting the tire.
Its not wheel size that matters its overall tire diameter
They make skinny ultra low profile 22 tires that have a smaller diameter than 15 inch tires
It all depend on the look you're going for. Most in this forum prefer 16 or 17s but the 18s from a e55 AMG look great too, if you get the right diameter tires
Forum member MRAMAY has an 87 560SEC that he runs 18s with Sumitomo 245/40/18 with an overall diameter of 25.8" on all 4 with H&R drop springs....
Im loolking at 18x8.5 or 18x8.5 front 18x9.5 rear on my 560SEL. They have a ET25 which should fit but may need a 7mm spacer in the rear. It will be close...
