My seats in the 87 300SDL are trashed, I found a nice pair of seats from a 126 S model that is a 91, which by all appearances are almost exact. They are almost brand new, gray, the color I need and $400 for the front set. The guy at the yard says they will fit, the rail bolt patterns are the same, but the electrical connector is different. The controls are all the same and I'm wondering if its just a connector issue which is an easy modification. Does anyone know if this information is correct. Could the connectors be so different? The motors have to all be 12 volt and any amperage has to be relatively the same, Any thoughts about this. Please forgive any errors on my part as I'm a newbie posting here.
I did this very same swap from a 1992 into my 1982 300SD. I just took the newer seats off the base and mounted them on the older 300SD bases with seat motors. It was a direct bolt on.
Does your car have the motorized headrests and do these have a connector to consider? Did you have any problem with the headrests functioning? I never use this feature but just for resale I would like them to work if possible.
All 1986+ USA cars have memory and power headrests on both front seats.
The 1991 seat memory computer is different internally but might have the same pinout. The physical seat mountings will be the same.
