Latest pics...

Here are the two boot floor sections (left and right) that need replacing. They incorporate a vent hole which the bumper slides over.

Here's the original left side after it was cut off!

The RHS is worse. I can't wait until that one is out. Final image of where we are on the LHS.

Most of the new floor section I bought was put in, but the way it's designed to fit means that it should've fitted inside the rear wing - meaning it would've been impossible to just put it straight in without taking the whole wing off. Since it's not rusty, there isn't really any point, so Mick cut it at the point where it connected to the rear wing and then welded it in place. The big challenge was making sure the vent was in the correct position so the bumper still fits right. We think the bumper may have been warped slightly over time by the rust/movement of the original vent (it looks slightly wonky on one side), but hopefully it should still fit OK.

Looks like by next week, both sides should be back together and painted. Then I can move onto the *really* nasty stuff around the rear window. I'm hoping that won't be too bad, but I can't be sure until the window is out.

I like how this is turning out. Great work. Have you looked in the trunk under the back window to see how bad the rust is there?

Thanks, I'm pretty pleased with it so far. Under the trunk looks OK - except if I look through the holes to the base of the window, which appears to be quite rusty, but it's difficult to see. From the top, both inside and out, it looks fine - so I think it's mainly rusty along the seam where the window rests. I don't think I'm going to see it properly until I get the window out though.

Looks great so far.
As to the rear window, they all seem to leak at both corners at this age causing very sneaky rust . . . With my´86 560 sec i had to replace the entire sill due to rust.

Those wheelarch repair panels are a big find, thank you for that. I think I'll watch to see how you get on before tackling similar work myself. I could do with new doors, too.

Hey, I've got this job coming somewhere in the future... Did the 500 wheel arches fit no problem? And are they the same width as the old ones?
Front arches are wider on the 560 compared to the "lesser" models. In a similar vein the ebay ad includes many models, but not the 560. What I'm wondering is, are the parts compatible.
