I've been seeing some really good quality BBS RS replicas recently so I thought of creating a list for reference of all the BBS RS replicas we find.

Most of these companies are still around and will make whatever size/offset bolt pattern you want.

so I've seen the prices for real bbs's and AMG rims and stuff. What kind of prices are we talking here? Could I realistically find a used set of replica rims in good shape for around 500 dollars? I'm looking to change my shoes quick. Winter is fast approaching and the stock '84 14 inchers spin at almost every stop light if it's wet out. I assume that a 8-9 inch wide rim will help drastically.

Keep in mind that many of these (but perhaps not the above) look like but aren't constructed like the originals; I think that they are spun cast in one piece and the bolts are decorative. They are likely to weigh more.

Also, the HREs are definitely in no way a replica of BBS RSes. They are true multipiece wheels unlike the replicas which are fake 3-piece wheels and are most likely one piece.

Chances are the HREs are much better quality than even authentic BBS RSes. At least, they're far, far more expensive. You get what you pay for?

There are many reasons and arguements for why real and quality wheel companies are better for your car, safety, and over all investment. Maybe pictures act best though.

Here is a quality wheel when hit with an obstacle in the road.

And what can happen when replica wheels hit things. I'd rather have to replace an outer wheel lip, entire wheel, or tire, than risk my car loosing control at any given speed and suffering the outcome of that situation.

I think what is displayed above is the difference between cast and forged wheels.

This is why you will NEVER see aluminum wheels on a police car. It isn't the money, they've got $10,000 of H/D and electronics goodies on them.

This is really interesting stuff. I especially wonder about my Lorinsers. They according to the really good wheel shop are off centre almost from the middle on one wheel. How wierd is that. They banged a couple of the others back into shape but they were a real pain to get balanced so they said. But yup I suppose perhaps they've put up with a lot without breaking.
I still have faith in genuines, and hoped the Remotecs I recently bought would hold up well because of that.

Totally agree, you don't want cheap wheels.

Not all replicas/"fake" wheels are cheap Chinese knock-offs. For example, the HRE brand of RS replicas (called 501) are made of "Aerospace-grade 6061-T6 forged aluminum".
501 | HRE Performance Wheels

I bet a good RS replica today could be made to a much better specification than what BBS was able to accomplish 20 years ago.

They better be at $2,000/wheel! I personally have a hard time justifying spending $8k for a set of wheels that resemble something that can easily be found for half the price.

The ones with 5x112 bolt pattern on eBay would seem to require spacers which I'd like to avoid

There's the lenso staggered 17s with 25 offset
eBay item 151925870564 at $799

Or the HD 18s with 33 offset
eBay item 182100419097. at $550

So far the best option looks like the Jnc004 17s with 15 offset at $599
JNC004 17x8.5 - 5x112/5x120 - et15 - Gold Machined Lip

But I'm sure there's more choices - wheel experts anyone ?

I had staggered ESM LMs replicas on my 01 S8 and drove that car for over 100K with those wheels throughout northeast U.S. and eastern U.S. without ever a glitch a vibration or a bend.
