Smile 1989 300SE Oil Change Help

Just bought this car without a manual included. I have no idea if I am even in the correct posting area (if not, please forgive me) or not but here goes.

Since there is no maintenance history, I am starting now at 142K with a new air filter (that was an easy one since it was black) oil change, tune-up, fuel filter and wiper blades. Which reminds me, how do I turn on the wipers at the headlights or do they turn on when the main wipers are turned on?

Anyway, I digress, I have replaced the air filter, new spark plugs are in gapped at .032. The question I have is, where is the oil pan drain plug? I raised up the front and got underneath but for the life of me I couldn't find it. Do I need to take the plastic shield under the engine off or not? If someone can guide me where to look I would appreciate it.

Also, when I picked up the oil today, the autozone rep showed me this car needed 0W-30 and I bought Mobil 1. After getting home I searched Mobil's web site and it states 0W-40. What one should I be using?

Thanks for whatever help you can offer.

Welcome. And we like pics if you have any...

Headlamp wipers, they activate when you press the stalk to wash the windscreen, but only when the headlamps are switched on.

Oil, people use different depending on climate and season. )-40 is about right i think. I use 10-40. Plastic shield? New one on me... I expect you do need to whip it off to access the plug.
