Interesting solution to fitting a double-DIN receiver.
How do you like the Pioneer navigation?

It would be cool to have the black surround in palamino MB tex or matching veneer
I do like how you dropped the AC/vent/fan control panel 80s tuner style
It is possible to get a three-dimensional piece of plastic "dip-printed", that is, three dimensionally printed, in burl. This is how I had my instrument clusters done.
So far the pioneer (d3) has been great. I downloaded the latest maps and software update, but still doesn't have the pretty graphics the newer models have. I am running 6.5 infinity kappa's in the doors and rear deck and a 10 boxed in the trunk all off of a 5 channel amp at 2ohm's, and 3.5's in the dash off the HU. Sounds good. I hadn't thought about the palomino thing, maybe i'll try that. I was going to do a burl surround, but i've had enough woodworking for one month.
Awesome work..your wood makes my mouth drool! =) Wish I could do that to mine, and I had no idea you could make it look so good..I just assumed you had purchased a new set.
Congrats!
